Travelling with a dog is easier when the animal’s needs are part of the plan from the start. Confirm accommodation rules, organise documents and consider whether the journey suits your dog’s routine.
Before travelling
Pack vaccination records, identification, lead, bowls, regular food, prescribed medication and a familiar blanket or bed. Never give a sedative without veterinary guidance. If your dog becomes very anxious, gets travel sickness or has a health condition, speak to a veterinarian before leaving.
Accommodation and outings
“Pet friendly” rules vary. Ask about size limits, allowed areas, fees and circulation rules. Keep your dog supervised and respect local guidance.

Keep a local care plan
